The wireless telephone (modern version)

To start playing, participants must sit on the floor and form a circle so that everyone can clearly see each other’s face.

One of the players must ask a question by speaking into the ear of the player to his right. This must answer the question formulated always speaking in the ear. Whoever received the first question must ask the person on his right a question and memorize the answer. Continue with the questions and answers until you complete the circle.

Now, in turn, each of the participants must say aloud the question they were asked and the answer they received. It is easy to understand that the questions and the answers do not coincide. This creates some very funny situations.

The backpack game, perfect for improving children’s language skills

Before starting the game, the participants must establish an order to follow. The first player will say aloud: “I am going on a journey and in my backpack I carry…”, he will complete the sentence with an object, for example, a ball.

The next player must repeat this phrase remembering the object brought by the previous player and adding a new one. The further you go, the more difficult it is for players to remember all the objects. It will come to the point that a player will not remember exactly the sequence of all the objects contained in the backpack.

Construct a sentence

In this game you choose a few words, four or five are enough. Now, each of the players has to write a sentence or a short story using the words chosen at the beginning of the game.

To decide who will be the winner, you can set a time limit (two or three minutes) after which players must read the sentences or small stories aloud to an external judge who will decide which will be the best and most original. It can also be decided that the winner is the player who finishes first.

Phrases formed with words starting with the chosen letter

This game starts by saying a random letter out loud, for example, the “C”. Within a minute, players have to create a sentence that contains as many words as starting with the letter “C”. For example: “Carlo eats candy with his classmates”.

When the time runs out, each player must say the sentence they wrote out loud and count the number of words starting with the chosen letter. Whoever writes the sentence with the most words starting with that letter, wins. This person can choose a new letter and start a new round.

As you have seen, there are many activities to improve children’s language skills. These are all activities and games that you can play at home. You just need to have a little imagination and find time to be together as a family to have fun and learn new things. What are you waiting for to have fun with your children?
